Why First Semester Exists
An open intelligence initiative dedicated to ending agent exploitation, protecting Pakistani families from financial ruin, and putting direct admissions truth into the hands of every student.
In Memory of Laiba Ijaz: The Cost of a Broken System
In October, a tragedy in Islamabad shook the conscience of Pakistan. Laiba Ijaz, an exceptionally talented gold medalist graduate from the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), harbored a lifelong dream of pursuing advanced studies abroad.
Seeking guidance, she turned to an educational consultant in Islamabad. The agent promised her guaranteed admission and a full scholarship at Harvard University in the United States, demanding 7.1 million rupees (71 Lakh PKR) to process her files.
Her father—a humble, hardworking man who earned an honest living selling milk—believed wholeheartedly in his daughter’s brilliance. To arrange the staggering sum, the family sacrificed everything: they sold their ancestral plot of land, liquidated their savings, and pledged the mother’s gold jewelry.
The agent handed Laiba beautifully printed admission and scholarship letters. But when she took the documents to be verified, the devastating reality surfaced: every single paper was a complete, fabricated forgery.
The emotional weight proved unbearable. Crushed by shock, grief, and the agonizing guilt that her father’s heart would give out if he discovered that their life’s savings had vanished into criminal hands, Laiba tragically took her own life in Sector G-10 Islamabad, hanging herself by her dupatta from a tree. In her final message, she pleaded with her family not to tell her father what had happened.
She was a gold medalist. A brilliant, innocent daughter of Pakistan. Her death was not merely a personal loss—it was an indictment of an unchecked, predatory consultancy mafia.
An Unregulated Mafia Operating on Impunity
Laiba’s story is not an isolated incident. Across Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Faisalabad, and small towns throughout Pakistan, thousands of young students and middle-class families are stripped of their life savings every year.
Unregulated agents operate flashy offices in commercial districts, masquerading as official university representatives. They charge extortionate fees for basic web forms, fabricate financial documents, and steer students into substandard institutions solely because those colleges pay 15% to 20% recruiter kickbacks.
Due to Pakistan’s overburdened and slow judicial system, victims rarely recover a single rupee. Scammers frequently operate with near-total impunity, vanishing behind new company names while leaving ruined families in their wake.
In 2026, This Exploitation Must Stop
The fundamental truth of international admissions is simple: Accredited universities publish their exact admissions criteria, deadlines, fee waiver procedures, and financial documentation requirements completely in public.
There are no secret agent backdoors. There are no private quota allocations. Any application process an agent charges millions of rupees to "arrange" is a standard online application that any student can submit directly from a laptop.
By harnessing artificial intelligence, structured datasets, and transparent institutional links, First Semester provides Pakistani applicants with unfiltered admissions intelligence. We clarify genuine financial proof requirements, realistic tuition payment installments, and direct self-application blueprints—completely free, with zero middlemen.
Our Global Scope: While our initial launch catalog focuses on affordable, high-mobility accredited universities in the United States, First Semester is built as an expanding platform for global higher education opportunities across North America, the UK, Europe, and beyond.
So There Is Never Another Laiba
First Semester was built so that no Pakistani student ever feels so isolated or deceived that they see no way forward. No family should ever have to sell their home or milk stall to enrich fraudulent middlemen.
Truth, transparency, and education belong to the students. We are here to ensure you have the intelligence and tools to walk through every door on your own merit.
